STEMEX is a STEM education centre based in Norwich, UK, providing hands-on, personalised Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths workshops for children aged 4–16 and adults, including learners with SEND.

We primarily work with children and young people aged 4–16, with age-appropriate tracks such as 3–6, 6–9, 9–12 and 12–16. We also offer tailored STEM workshops and training for adults.
Our mission is to inspire creativity, problem-solving and resilience through inclusive STEM education, making high-quality STEM learning accessible to a diverse range of learners, including those with SEND.
We focus on engineering-led, hands-on learning with real models, robotics and coding, combined with personalised support, especially for SEND learners. We track both STEM and transferable skills (e.g. focus, resilience, communication), not just “content covered”.
No. Robotics is a major strand, but we also cover engineering, mechanics, electronics, coding, creative design, problem-solving, and basic scientific investigation through practical builds and experiments.
We align with and support the UK National Curriculum in STEM subjects, but we teach through practical, project-based workshops rather than traditional classroom lessons. Our programmes are designed to complement school learning, not replace it.
No. We work with both neurotypical learners and those with SEND. Our approach is inclusive by design, meaning that adjustments and personalised support are built into how we plan and run sessions.

Yes. We offer one-to-one sessions, particularly for learners who benefit from a quieter environment, more structure, or individualised pacing (including many SEND learners and Short Breaks participants).
Yes. We run small group sessions where learners can collaborate, support one another, and develop social skills while still receiving individual attention and scaffolding.
Our core offer is in-person, hands-on workshops. In some cases we can support remote or hybrid solutions for schools or specific projects; please contact us to discuss your needs.
Yes. We can design tailored STEM sessions, CPD, and technical workshops for adults—such as teachers, youth workers, and parent groups—focusing on practical STEM, coding, and inclusive teaching strategies.
This depends on the learner’s needs and the type of session. For some learners, especially those working on confidence and independence, we gradually reduce parental presence as part of their outcomes. We agree this with you in advance
